The L’Enfant Trust Receives HAPP Funding for Big Green
The L’Enfant Trust (Trust) is pleased to announce the organization was awarded a $65,000 grant from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ Housing Affordability Planning Program (HAPP) to support the Trust’s rehabilitation of historic 1220 Maple View Place, SE (Big Green) into multi-unit affordable housing. HAPP awards small, flexible grants of up to $75,000 to area local governments or non-profit housing developers engaged in the planning, approval, or development of affordable housing near transit stations. HAPP grants are funded by the Amazon Housing Equity Fund.
The Trust’s rehabilitation of Big Green will create new affordable family-sized homeownership opportunities directly located within a half-mile buffer to a High-Capacity Transit Station (Anacostia Metro Station), directly increasing affordable housing supply near high-capacity transit. Big Green is also located within an Equity Emphasis Area.
